The End Goal

The reason I became so interested in doing 3D modeling is because of my fascination with video games as a kid. I wanted to create games of my own or be able to create models to be used in a game, and it eventually led me to this class. Now I'm working on getting the skills I need to be able to land a job in the video game industry, be it modeling, creating a story, or making concept art (the last two things I do outside of class).

Rendering Practice #2

I did some more work on the screwdriver render. I moved the lights back a little bit and set them to quadratic to get rid of the edge the light was making, and I added an HDR image, giving the screwdriver and the surface a reference to how the light is going to affect the objects (in the words of my teacher, a chrome object in a dark room is going to look different than a chrome object in a colored room).

3D Rendering Practice

To help make sure that I can actually make my robot when the time comes, I did some basic rendering and 3 point lighting practice with a screwdriver I made in Maya. The lighting is a bit too intense and I still need to get an HDR image so that there is a background to help provide proper lighting.
